Harvard interview in alumnus' home?

The alumnus who is to interview me called this morning to set up an interview and said we will be meeting in his home. He also said not to bring a resume, but mentioned that Harvard does collect ACT, SAT, class rank, and other academic data so I should bring those. Does this seem strange?

How I could get into Harvard being peruvian and with a gpa of 4.85, but not in the top of my class

I already took the sat, I prepared to get the 1600 points. I think I did it very good, but I expect to take it again. I consider someone very mature, responsible, but most important, innovative. I really had many proposes to solve many problems in the world (obviously, not being specific in topic I don't know in depth, but being general) and not my family believes that, but people from my school. I have to say that I had a not very good senior year, in which I got many Bs, but in my junior year I was better. Besides, I have 2 teachers that know me and have many good things to tell about me, so I'm fine in that. But what I would like to know if it is any requirement or recommendation that could increase my chances to get into Harvard. Please be respectful and answer as soon as posible. Thank you.

Possible to Request Another Interview?

Hello, I had my interview a few days ago and I'm wondering if it would be possible to request another interview from a different interviewer? Essentially what happened in my last one was my interviewer opened up by asking me my class rank, GPA, and SAT scores. Then they asked why did you apply to Harvard. After I responded, they asked about other specific schools and if I had applied to them, stating that he thought I was a better match to one of them over Harvard. Then he asked what I did in my free time. Finally he talked about how Harvard only wants diversity and none of his children got in and that I should just go to a state school to save money. The interviewer didn't get any impression at all of who I am and I'm extremely concerned that their report won't be beneficial to my application. Is there anything I can do?

Should I send a resume but Interview happened way before?

My H interview happened about two weeks ago and I forgot to bring my resume then. I have an updated version now. Should I send it to my interviewers? I really want to. They most likely did their write-ups but just in case. How does it look?

I have a junior in high school who is proficient in both clarinet and bassoon and can't decide which for college. Any thoughts? Is it really possible to pursue both?

Hey guys! Was wondering whether having an interview from China – a limited interview country – speaks to anything about my candidacy for Harvard.

Changing Majors?

How difficult is it to change majors within a college freshman year at Harvard? How difficult is it to change majors between colleges? If anyone knows about the other ivies' policies that would be helpful too.

Statistically speaking, just how insanely tough is admission for unhooked applicants?

For those who are not sports recruits, legacies, URM, first-generation, and who don't live in Hawaii (no offense), what are the actual chances for an U.S. unhooked applicant in the regular round - in which only 1000-1100 students are accepted? And if anyone wants to venture further, what are the chances for an unhooked applicant who is not valedictorian/36/2400/Intel winner etc? I've always wanted to ask this :)

Foreign Language class

I'm currently taking a foreign language class of a level 2 and in the future, I am hoping to apply for Harvard that requires 4 years of foreign language but I do not like thie idea of having 2 more years of foreign language due to the fact that there are other clases I want to take and I was wondering if it will make it impossible for me to get accepted into Harvard if I don't take 4 years of foreign language, besides, do I really have to take a foreign language class if I already speak a foreign language?

Which AP exams will allow students to "opt out" of intro classes at Harvard?

Admitted student here! I read that Harvard only accepts AP exam scores as credit if a student invokes Advanced Standing, or if the credit is for foreign language. I've also read that students (who don't invoke Advanced Standing) can use AP exams to skip intro-level classes and move onto more difficult courses without receiving credit, but I haven't been able to find which AP exams this applies to. Harvard's website only has charts for Advanced Standing. Does someone know or can someone direct me to a page where I can find out whether AP Physics, Macro & Microeconomics, Government, BC Calculus, and English Literature exam scores are eligible to skip intro-level courses? I'm not keen on spending hundreds of dollars on AP exams if Harvard will not look at them at all. Thanks in advance!

Extracurriculars and AP Classes

My post on this subject applies to all of the Ivy League schools, but especially Harvard. I am a junior this year with a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.15 weighted GPA. My school, for the first time, will be offering AP classes next year (my senior year). I plan on taking the AP offerings next year. I just finished reading Allen Cheng's article, http://blog.****/how-to-get-into-harvard-and-the-ivy-league-by-a-harvard-alum, which told the intricacies of applying to Harvard and other great schools. He suggests that Harvard wants superstars that have a "spike" in their extracurriculars. They really like to see applicants focusing on one (or at most two) major areas during high school to see if they are leaders. He said that they really don't like "well-rounded" students. I really like the medical field, and have geared most of my high school extracurriculars towards my passion, so my question is, "Have I done too much and become too well-rounded?" My other question is, "Will they understand that I have only had honors classes, not AP classes, available to me until my senior year?" I am in Texas, but I don't know if that matters to the Ivy schools. Here is my current course load and extracurriculars: Honors English Honors Spanish II Honors Chemistry Honors U.S. History Honors Pre-Calculus Previous Subjects: Algebra I, II English 9 World Literature (10) Geometry Biology World History Civics/Economics Spanish I Next Year course load: AP Literature AP European History AP Biology College Algebra Anatomy and Physiology Physics Extracurriculars: Highest scoring team member in Science/Math Quiz Bowl Shadowed Doctors in Clinic and Surgery Biomedical and Surgical Research at Boston Leadership Institute Award for Regional Science Fair, Biology Division School Journalism Editor for Academics One of four to start School Theatre Program My SAT Score is 1520, and I am hoping to get it up from there. I am also taking the following SAT II Subject Tests in May: Mathematics II, Biology E/M, and U.S History Any thoughts on these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Does Harvard truly consider every aspect of a student's application-including financial information?

Hey guys, so it's pretty well known that the Ivies are pretty holistic in their admissions. However, I was wondering if the adcoms are aware of the student's income as they review the application. I'm on the low end for finances, which prevents me from taking up as many EC's as I would like to. Should I specify something along these somewhere on my application (if so, where? <--additional info section, perhaps) or would that be unnecessary? Thanks in advance, hope you guys are having a good day!

3 Hour Interview?

I recently had an interview for Harvard that ended up being around 3 hours long. All of my other interviews have been about an hour to an hour and a half, and I've never heard of an interview being this long. Has anyone else had an experience like this?
