How much can a good SAT Subject Score help?
Hey guys, so currently I have a pretty mediocre SAT Score with a 1260 and I was hoping if I have a 750+ on both Biology E and Math Level 2. Could that kind of offset the score a bit. In other words, how much can a good SAT Subject Test Score help in college applications?

If you fit what the COLLEGE sees fit, you are in, otherwise you are out.
When it comes to college application, the word FIT means any or all of the following : school size, location, student political leaning, core or no core requirement, etc. etc... You would think you have good chance of getting in the schools that you spend months researching, schools that you think are the best fit for you.
The reality is that the colleges are also looking for the FIT, and the way they see FIT is quite different from that of the applicants. The elite colleges are looking for fit in the following: Underrepresented race/ethnicity, Exceptional talent, Recruited athlete status, Likelihood of enrolling, Fund-raising potential.
You can read more here https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2012/04/09/new-research-how-elite-colleges-make-admissions-decisions as recommended by @gibby
Any thoughts on whether this revelation has any effect on how you approach college application?

Harvard to Bar Members of All-Male Clubs From Leading Groups
"Students who join Harvard's male-only social clubs won't be able to serve as sports captains or leaders of other campus groups starting in fall 2017.
The new policy, announced Friday by Harvard's first female president, also applies to other unofficial single-gender groups on campus, including fraternities and sororities. Top officials at the university have been pushing those groups to stop excluding students based on gender even though they aren't officially recognized by the school." …
Choices have consequences.

AS Levels vs. Standardised Tests to Harvard Admissions.
My AS Levels are as it turn out are very average and weak, but my ACT scores and my 3 SAT II scores are outstanding. What conclusion would Harvard reach on this basis? Do they judge someone more on their Standardised Test scores or their AS Levels?

Senior year classes for Ivy League schools
Hey! I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding my senior year schedule.
I may have gone a bit overboard..
I'm currently taking
AP Physics 1
AP Statistics
AP Literature
AP US Government
AP Macroeconomics
AP Calculus BC
AP Computer Science A
AP Biology(?)
I was thinking about dropping AP Biology because it's currently taking up most of my time. I'm trying to balance all these APs with my extracurriculars, but I need some extra time to focus on perfecting the other aspects of my application.
I plan on majoring in Math/Computer Science. Would top-tier schools care that I never took AP Biology? I took AP English Language (5), AP Spanish(3), AP Chemistry(5), AP Psychology(5), AP Calculus AB(5), and APUSH(4) my Junior year, so clearly I can handle this workload, I just don't have the time..
Thanks!

AP Dilema
Hey guys. I am a 10th grade student at a philadelphia high school called Julia R. Masterman. In my high school 9th and 10th grade students are not allowed to take any AP classes. You begin taking AP classes in 11th grade. Unlike most schools, you have to apply for these AP classes and the teachers must accept you. Now, in 11th grade you are only allowed to take 2 AP classes and in 12th grade only 3. However, if you feel like you can handle 1 more A then you can send a letter to the dean explaining why you want to take an extra class. There is a 50-50 chance she accepts you or denies you. Unfortunatly, the dean and I are not what you may call the best of friends. I don't like her and she dosent like me due to an incident in the lunchroom. (Someone threw food at a teacher, the dean blamed me, there wasn't enough proof to prove the alligation so I was let go). As you may tell, she denied my of taking more then 2 AP classes. I tried going to the counselor and principal and they all failed to help me. Being realistic here, theres probably nothing I can do to change her mind. So, as you can tell by where I decided to put this discussion, I want to go to Harvard. Based on the fourms I've been seeing, Harvard compares the amount of AP classes you took to others in your class. In the end, I would be taking a total of 5 AP's (If the dean continues to deny my letters), while my other classmates would be taking 7 AP classes. I was wondering how I could increase the amount of AP classes by doing online courses. How would that work? Can I put these classes on my high school transcript? Would it help my weighted GPA, since I wouldn't be able to compete with someone that has 7 APs? Thanks!

Impressive or nah?
Before you ask - I also did a ton of stuff outside school.

Harvard Early Action October 15th
Hey guys,
So I'm thinking about applying to Harvard early action this year. On their website it says that they recommend you send it by October 15th, even though it is due November 1st. I was wondering whether or not sending it in October 15th will help my chances getting in, and will sending it in November 1st hurt my chances since they recommended you send it by Oct 15th? Or is it insignificant?

EA supplementary materials - Humanities/SS Research (how rare is this?)
I know quite a few people who submitted research abstracts for award-winning/published scientific research as their Harvard supplementary material, but I'm wondering whether there has been any successful Harvard applicants who submitted their humanities/social science research abstracts (like IB extended essays etc)??
On the Harvard website, it says "please only submit them if you have unusual talents". It's quite hard to quantify if my humanities/SS research paper is exceptional since there are not many avenues for publishing such papers at the hs level - any advice?
Thank you!
:)

Can I get into Harvard University
I have a 4.35 unweighted gpa out of 4.5 and a 4.7 out of 5 weighted gpa
I live in Massachusetts so I would be receiving in state college.
However my SAT is fairly lower which I received a 2290 out of 2400 and not sure if my ACT is better but have a 34 overall.
Of course I have a lot of ec. And Clubs.
Captain of debate team and varsity player for 2 sports for 3 years.
Have about 250 hours of community service at hospital and other organisation to help children.
I know for a fact I can get into Boston College. However Is it smarter to go to Harvard if I can or should I go to Boston College in which I pay nearly noting in because of the grants I will receive.

Quarter year grades
Can I send quarter year grades along with my SCEA application? I will most likely be receiving straight A's on my quarter year grades so I would like to send those to support my upward trend in grades. My quarter year grades will be released before the Nov 1 deadline
