In the Harvard academics section in the Common App, there is an 'optional' question for international applicants: "What specific plan do you have, if any, for using the education you hope to receive? (0-50 words)"
I find it interesting that this question is only for applicants outside the US and Canada (if someone has any suggestions for the reason please do tell). I am unsure of my future plans and if I did write an answer to this question, it would be a restatement of a vague plan for the future previously mentioned in my application. Unlike the Harvard Supplemental Essay, is this essay truly 'optional' or should I write an answer to it even though I pretty much have nothing new to say?
